IKEA in Australia: where the stores are and how the catalogue works now

Warehouse stores, small points and big drives

IKEA has traded in Australia since 1975, and the big blue warehouses now sit in most mainland capitals. Melbourne has Springvale and Richmond, Sydney has Tempe, Rhodes and Marsden Park, Queensland has Logan and North Lakes, and Canberra, Adelaide and Perth get one store each. So when you type ikea perth or ikea adelaide into a search bar, you are looking at a single destination, and for plenty of people in Australia that means a planned day out rather than a quick pop-in. Tempe has been described as the biggest in the country, at roughly 37,000 square metres when it was announced.

Not everything is a full store. IKEA also runs Plan & Order points at Belrose in Sydney and Cannington in Perth, plus collection points in places like Newcastle, Wollongong, Bunbury, Launceston and Hobart. The Northern Territory has neither a store nor a collection point, and Tasmania has no full store. If you are weighing up the trip, compare the drive with a local House & Garden option such as Bunnings Warehouse or Mitre 10, and see whether Amart Furniture or Harvey Norman is closer to home for a sofa or bed.

The paper book is gone: finding the current catalogue

A lot of people still search for the ikea catalogue 2026 and expect a thick book in the letterbox. That book first appeared in autumn 1950, and IKEA announced in December 2020 that it would stop printing it after about 70 years. The 2021 edition was the last, and a planned 2022 edition never went to press. The company pointed to changing media habits, costly distribution and its growing online and app sales. If you are after an ikea catalogue australia edition today, the practical answer is digital: the website and the IKEA app.

That is where this page helps. The IKEA catalogue we list now runs from 22.10.2026 to 22.11.2026 and has 5 pages, and these sheets usually stay valid for around 32 days. New ones tend to land on a Thursday. Browse the ikea catalogue online here, then jump to House & Garden for other homeware sheets, or check Electronics if the desk setup you are planning needs a monitor or lamp. People hunting for ikea past catalogues or old copies should remember the print run has ended, so treat any claim about a full archive with a grain of salt. For weekly food and pantry runs, Groceries and Aldi are better bets than a furniture warehouse.

Services, membership and the Swedish restaurant

IKEA Family is free to join, and members collect points and get access to member offers, including free click and collect at the store. Delivery runs from the door through to inside your home, you can book assembly and package removal, and kitchen planning goes from a full design-and-install job to someone just checking your plan. There is also a buy-back service where you bring in used IKEA furniture and receive a refund card. That is handy if you are upgrading an ikea desk or swapping out ikea rugs and want something back rather than a trip to the tip.

On the food side, store pages list the Swedish restaurant, a Swedish Food Market and, in Perth, a kids' play area and a bistro. Any ikea specials restaurant deals are set per store and often tied to Family membership on certain days, so check your own store page before you drive. The same goes for opening hours: they vary by location, so use the store finder. Stuck on where to buy something IKEA does not stock? Big W, Anaconda and BCF cover a lot of everyday gear, and Other collects the sheets that do not fit elsewhere.
