IKEA in Saudi Arabia: who runs it, where it trades and how to read the offers

A Swedish brand run by a Saudi franchisee

IKEA began as a Swedish mail-order business in 1943, and its first shop opened in Älmhult in 1958. Today the brand is owned by Inter IKEA Systems, which licenses almost every store to a franchisee. In ikea saudi arabia, the company behind the counter is therefore not the Swedish retail group. Here the franchise belongs to the Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furniture Trading Company, and the partnership goes back to 1983, the year the first store in Jeddah opened.

On its official Saudi website, IKEA lists large stores in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dhahran, so a search for ikea riyadh, ikea jeddah or ikea dhahran leads to separate branches. The site also names IKEA Thumamah in Riyadh, stores in Madinah, Abha, Tabuk, Jazan and Qassim, and planning studios in Jeddah and Taif. The operator also announced a Bahrain store in the mid-2010s, and the Dhahran branch was meant to serve Bahraini customers until then.

IKEA is filed under Other on this site, next to eXtra, Lulu and SACO. The wider Saudi Arabia section lets you compare a furniture trip with a grocery run.

Delivery, assembly and the IKEA Family card

Most questions about IKEA in the Kingdom come down to how a big box gets home. The official delivery page separates parcel delivery from big-furniture delivery. A parcel is an order where each package weighs up to 30 kg within a total weight limit. Beds, wardrobes and kitchens count as big furniture, and some need two people. Express delivery runs from the stores in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dhahran and Madinah and arrives the same day once you confirm your location. After dispatch you receive tracking details by email. If nobody is home, the courier calls to rearrange, and a second visit can carry an extra charge.

You can also order online and use click and collect at the store, book professional assembly at home or at work, and spread a purchase with a pay-later option such as Tamara. Returns are accepted within 365 days, as long as the item meets the return policy. Other Other stores such as Centro follow different rules.

IKEA Family is the free loyalty scheme. Anyone living in the Kingdom can join with a mobile number or an email address, through the website or the IKEA app, and each person may hold one membership. It is fully digital, so there is no plastic card, and it cannot be handed to a friend. Members get special prices on selected products, member-only campaigns, event invitations and a free hot drink with any in-store purchase. Shoppers at Carrefour or Hyper Panda should treat IKEA Family as a separate account.

Reading an IKEA offers page without surprises

People search for ikea offers ksa, an ikea flyer this week or the latest ikea sale, and the honest answer is that IKEA does not work like a grocery chain with one fixed leaflet day. Campaigns arrive in waves, and the member prices announced for IKEA Family apply only to the categories and products named in advance. They generally cannot be stacked with other offers, so read the small print before you plan a bigger purchase around a banner. Browse all Saudi Arabia stores if you prefer a weekly rhythm.

Our IKEA page collects the current catalogue as soon as it is published. The latest edition has 1 pages and runs from 06.10.2026 to 31.10.2026, so check those dates before you drive across town. Prices and stock differ between branches and online, which is why we never quote riyal amounts. For ikea offers and ikea this week questions, the store finder on the official website gives the opening times of your branch.

A practical routine helps. Measure the room and the doorway first, then decide whether the item fits the parcel limit or needs furniture delivery. Next look at Other for stores with a different focus, and compare with Nesto or Al Raya if the list also includes food.
